Our newsletter editor, Kevin Kasik is at it again, spotlighting our local artists! This time, he interviews Kelley Bryant and Ursula O’Farrell (pdf format)

General Meeting

Saturday, June 12, 1:00 - 3:00 pm
Neighborhood Center, Los Gatos

Nancy Rice

Nancy Rice, Watercolor/Acrylic, Web Designer

As many artists will tell you, they feel an inner need to expand their creativity. I am no different. Moving away from the realism genre, I'm now working more abstractly with acrylic paint and acrylic medium. By spraying water and using my fingers, I move poured paint about the canvas to develop textures and watch images evolve from the surface as the paint settles and dries. I am now allowing the paint to flow through me evoking memory or longing for a peaceful evening or a glimpse of what the world is like under the water's surface. I'm no longer concerned if the painting looks like an actual place, if it evokes a feeling of place, then I've achieved my intent.

WE NEED YOU STAT!!

Art in the Heart of the Hospital
Good Samaritan Hospital,
2425 Good Samaritan Dr, San Jose.

Contact Edna Piersol Windes at 408-386-5317 or email to sign up

Every Thursday. 12 to 2 PM.
Every Thursday from March 15 to June 28.
And again in the fall, Every Thursday from September 5 to November 29.

(Thursday demonstration dates in September, October and November remain untaken.)

This is a deeply appreciated program allowing artists to demonstrate their work in the beautiful lobby of the Good Samaritan Hospital. It provides a lot of nice exposure for the artist. A terrific place to hand out cards and brochures about your work. Hospital personnel, as well as patients and their families are very interested in what the artist is doing and drift over to talk casually for a few minutes. It is a bright spot in a hospital day and not a difficult thing for the artist. The area is set up ready to go for you when you walk in and then you relax, work on your art and answer questions and take all the glory. No prepared script or rehearsal needed. Easy and fun.

-- Edna Piersol Windes, Co-Coordinator for this community site
