Bonnie Joy Sedlak's painting Two of a Kind was accepted in Aqueous USA 2018, the 41st National Show of the Kentucky Watercolor Society. The show will hang in Louisville, KY, September 6 to November 4.

Plein Air Group - 16 Los Gatos Art Association members took the January Challenge to paint every day in the month and to post the paintings to a private Facebook page. The challenge was announced to the plein air painters, but there were no restrictions on what was painted or drawn.
While painting daily was difficult for some schedules, that became secondary to just painting more. The group enjoyed learning from others, sharing thoughts, tips, and their work. They also got to know each other better through daily exchanges. It was a great way to start the year and to chase away the January Blues!

First Meeting at our New Location - The attendance at the January meeting was very high. There was an outpouring of praise and enthusiasm for the facility, for our organization, and for our presenter, George Rivera.
A special thanks to Helen Scheel for booking George who was outstanding in the job he did critiquing about 40 paintings and he worked way overtime to get it all done. He is a true and dedicated master at what he does. He is very giving of his time and attention, and is sensitive and kind in how he dispenses his advice.

Bonnie Joy Sedlak had watercolors juried into two Laguna Plein Air Painters Association shows "Art and Nature" and "Salute to National Parks" at the Forest & Ocean Gallery, Laguna Beach. A mini watercolor was accepted in the Randy Higbee 6" Square Exhibition and Sale, Randy Higbee Gallery, Costa Mesa, CA, December 2 - January 12, 2018, and two of her paintings will hang for a year in the Arts Council of Monterey County juried show at the Government Administration building in Salinas. Her China Beach painting won First Place in the Monterey show.
Al Shambles Lonesome Natural Bridge has been juried into the Triton Museum of Arts: 2017 Salon at the Triton 2D Competition and Exhibition which is in progress until February 4, 2018.

Syd Dunton had a very successful show of 18 of his pieces at JCO Art Haus in Los Gatos. The Art Fair ran from October 12-15. Pictured here is Bits and Pieces.

Rozanne Hermelyn's Waiting for the Water to Rise, has been selected for inclusion in The Boston Printmakers 2017 North American Print Biennial, Jan. 27 - March 4, 2018, Lunder Arts Center, Cambridge, MA., juried by Judith Brodie, Curator of Modern Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. From 1,990 entries, 88 were accepted for the exhibition.
In this year's Pacific Print show at Palo Alto Art League, Rozanne won third place with Falling and Rising on the Other Side, juried by Alice Wu, Kala Art Institute.

Kathy Kleinsteiber has a solo art exhibit at the Environmental Education Center at the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge in Alviso through November. The exhibit consists of nine framed giclée prints of watercolors in the botanical style that depict native plants, birds and insects of the nearby oak woodlands. Proceeds from purchases will benefit the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society, a nonprofit organization that provides education, interpretation and research at the wildlife refuge. The exhibit is at 1751 Grand Blvd, San Jose, CA 95002. Please note that the building is closed when a school field trip is in progress, so please call ahead or visit on the weekend.

The Perch is highlighted in the American Art Collector's September issue detailing the exhibit. Tonya Carpenter's Dagger and Sword, a pastel portrait of a traditional Georgian embroidered tunic, was selected for the 30th Juried exhibit at the IAPS Convention Exhibit in Albuquerque.
It was inspired by numerous folkloric groups encountered during her travels in central Europe.

Jeff Owen - LGAA member Jeff Owen has been working with glass artist Marc Demian of Mill Valley, CA making sculptures out of his steel and Marc's glasswork. Pickled Martini is one of Jeff's latest creations.

Irma Longley has been accepted once again this year to appear in the Saratoga Rotary Art and Wine Festival held at West Valley College the first weekend in May. This years event will be held on the grass once again now that the construction is complete at the school.

Annie Haines and Nancy Takaichi completed the 31-day "Strada Easel" challenge of painting from life every day for the month of January and posting their paintings on Facebook. Both are selling their work from the challenge to raise money for charities; Annie Haines sales are being donated to Sierra Club, and Nancys are being donated to Walk for Water.

Two of her abstract paintings were used as the cover art on the Journal of the California Dental Hygienists Association.

In August he won a first in the watercolor division at the University Art Open. The SCVWS is using a new piece of his reproduced on posters and cards to promote the annual member show.
