Letter from the President

When our life circumstances change, it can often bring exciting new opportunities — and some challenges as well. Such is the case for LGAA and three executive officers, who are retiring from their positions at the end of this year. They are 1st Vice President, Elke Groves; Treasurer, Susan Jochheim; and President, Jane Loomis (me). It has been a privilege and honor to serve these past years.  Many thanks to Elke and Susan for their outstanding work!

The biggest challenge for LGAA is finding new officers in order to continue operating in 2024. Our recuiting efforts yielded some candidates for Recording Secretary and one for Interim President.  The third required position, Treasurer, is still openThese positions are legally required for our club to remain a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. At our September general meeting, members discussed offering incentives to anyone wishing to volunteer for any officer position.

The incentives for LGAA officers will be free memberships and free entry fees for competitions and exhibits. This offer stands for anyone who is currently a member and for anyone outside the club who wishes to join. The positions can be filled by new or current members. The candidate doesn't need to be an artist or have experience doing the job. We will offer training. The roles can also be shared between two people.

By tradition, board members for the next 2-year term are elected at the November general meeting. The deadline for finding a Treasurer is October 15th. Demo meetings are suspended until at least a Treasurer comes forth. This is URGENT!

Once we have a new treasurer, we will need chairpersons for 1) Programs (demos), 2) Exhibits, 3) Awards, and 4) Newsletter. The more officers we have, the less work everyone else needs to do.  Please do all you can to help us find volunteers.  Any questions? Email me at
